Technical Notes
AOL
AOL’s latest version has created problems for many programs that use Internet links in e-mails to provide additional information. In some cases, AOL completely blocks the e-mail.
One of Paragon’s nicer features is the ability to e-mail dynamic links to clients that allow them to see the most recent changes to a listing. This allows much smaller e-mail files and quicker e-mail transmission. It also can e-mail the agent at the same time so that they will know what the client has received. You can still use AOL as an Internet Service Provider and be able to log onto Paragon, but it will limit your ability to receive system e-mails and also impact clients who use AOL for their e-mail.
This is not a problem unique to Paragon, but FNIS is still trying to find some resolution with AOL. To date, they have been unsuccessful.
Uploading Photos
You can choose to attach up to nine of your own photos to a listing in Paragon. To ensure that your photo will look good you should adhere to the following standards: Dimensions: 400x400 pixels, File Size: approximately 35 kb and JPG format. It is important to remember that the MLS rules do not allow advertising or other verbiage on the photos.
Apple MACs
Paragon makes extensive use of Microsoft technology; consequently, Apple Macintosh operating systems are unsupported by FNIS for Paragon. Nevertheless, you may still use a MAC on Paragon, but it requires a PC Emulator and is often slower because of that. Compatibility with Paragon will increase if you use the latest PC Emulator on faster MACs. For information on what PC emulator to purchase, you may contact the MAX MLS technical support at 925-730-7100.
Spyware & Ad-ware
This is just a tip, not necessarily related to Paragon. You may have heard about devices that track what sites you have visited and other information about you when you are on the Internet. These are small applications that are installed, often without your knowledge or consent at different sites on the net, and that may damage your computer and cause your Internet access to decrease or even cease. These applications are notorious for tracking your activity and sending it to marketing agencies. Most of them probably won’t affect your ability to use Paragon, but many people see them as an invasion of privacy and prefer they weren’t on their computers.
Antivirus programs do not stop them from being installed. To get rid of these parasites you should download, install and run the free SPYBOT or AD-AWARE programs. These programs are available at these locations:
